Common measuring questions
Use a ruler or tape measure that shows millimetres. Measure the bottom of the chair leg where it touches the floor. A ruler is usually easiest because a few millimetres can change the fit.
Please measure in millimetres. For example, if the bottom of your chair leg measures 30mm across, choose the 30mm size.
Measure straight across the widest part of the bottom of the chair leg. This is the diameter. If the leg is slightly angled or tapered, measure the part that sits closest to the floor.
For square legs, measure one side across the bottom. For rectangular legs, measure both the width and depth at the bottom, such as 30mm x 40mm.
Check all chair legs before ordering. Some chairs have different front and rear leg sizes, so you may need two sizes. If you are unsure, email us a photo and the measurements before ordering.
Trace around the bottom of the chair leg on paper, then measure the outline in millimetres. Email the outline photo plus a clear photo of the chair leg next to a ruler to info@chaircapsaustralia.com.au and we’ll help check the closest fit.
Measure the rail where it touches the floor, including the width and thickness in millimetres. If there is an old glide or cap attached, send us a photo before ordering so we can check whether you should measure the rail or the old glide.
Please do not guess. Send us a clear photo of the chair leg next to a ruler, plus your measurements in millimetres. We can then recommend the safest size or style before you order.
Some styles have a little give, but they are not designed to stretch a long way. If your chair leg is more than a few millimetres outside the listed size range, email us first so we can check the safest option.
